CCTV's Xinwen Lianbo, or News Simulcast, on August 13 featured reports on "practicing the Two Mountains Theory and pushing China's development of an ecological civilization to a new stage". In an interview with the News Simulcast, Erik Solheim, Vice Chairperson of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), spoke highly of the notion of an ecological civilization proposed by President Xi Jinping in which lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets. Erik said all countries in history have chosen developing the economy at the cost of the environment while the Two Mountains Theory put forward by President Xi has protected mother Earth, improved people's livelihoods, promoted economic development and created jobs. Lucid waters and lush mountains are indeed invaluable assets.
